Task 2 - Art Asset Development

INSTRUCTIONS

Art Assets
During the art asset creation process, I may encounter opportunities to deviate slightly from the initial proposal. These adjustments aim to elevate the game's design and visuals.

For this project, I'm creating most of the assets myself. Adobe Illustrator is my go-to tool for producing vector graphics, including the main character design, backgrounds, and even tilesets. To preview how the character sprites will look in action, I'm using Adobe Photoshop's timeline feature to create simple animations in GIF format.

Design Progress
Main Character

Before finalizing the character design, I experiment with a variety of color palettes to see which best complements the background environment. This helps ensure a cohesive and visually appealing look for the character.

I decided to transform the character into pixel art style, as I changed my approach to the game design to embrace a pixel art aesthetic. This shift allowed for a more cohesive and visually appealing game experience.

Background & Tilesets
Background
For the backgrounds of levels 1 and 3, I used pixel drawing in Photoshop. The background for level 1 features a fire and dry heat theme, utilizing a brownish color palette. In contrast, the background for level 3 is designed with a water and cold theme, incorporating dark and glowing colors.

Tilesets
I created the tilesets for the first, second, and third levels using Photoshop's pencil tool, working pixel by pixel to achieve a pixel art effect. The process of designing all three tilesets was incredibly fun and interesting, as it involved exploring different designs and color combinations to ensure a cohesive and visually appealing background for each level.
