INSTRUCTIONS

Week 1 - Module Introduction
Mr. Mike briefed us on the module information and introduced all the topics outlined in the brief, allowing us to make informed decisions.

Below are the final members of my group (G9) for the Empathy Walk Project.

Task 1 - Proposal

Contextual Research

After finish grouping, all of the member start to go for contextual research for what can we do for the Empathy Walk Application that we going to have in our Final Prototype.

For my contextual research, I explored several similar applications that have implemented AR features for tour visits, such as museum apps and other university campus tour apps. Additionally, I investigated various AR technologies and tools that could support the features we plan to include in our app.

Interview

We conducted interviews with campus ambassadors and students to gather insights on their experiences with the current campus tour. We asked about their feelings and preferences, as well as any suggestions they had for improving or enhancing the campus tour experience.

Student Interview Question

Ambassador Interview Question

Ambassador Response

Student Response

After compound all the Interviewee response we fill up the empathy map to synthesize and visualize the insights gathered from the participants.

User Persona

After conducting the research and analyzing the interview responses, we developed three personas: Student, Parent and Ambassador.

Insights

Insight Discovery
Tour Personalization
  • The offered tour routes are not programme-specific.
Incomplete information
  • Lack of programme-specific star ambassadors to provide complete details of programmes
Venue Limited Access
  • Even with the venue open, due to SOP, visitors are not allowed in.
Inaccurate tour experience
  • Instead of experiencing an immersive campus tour, visitors might just want to observe the venue, but would like to have the option to have more insightful information displayed.

Problem Statement
New students or parents who are interested in enrolling need an accurate, personalized and informative campus tour experience because the current tours are not specific to programmes that the visitors want.

How might we
  • How might we create personalized campus tours for new students or parents so that they can get relevant experience and information that is programme-specific?
  • How might we create programme-specific information for new students or parents so that the campus tours are not dependent on student ambassadors to provide information?
  • How might we create an interactive campus tour for new students or parents to observe classes or student activities with the option to access insightful information on specific programs?

Ideation

Specific Program Route
As part of our final insights, we decided to offer a specific program that provides visitors with a more personalized campus tour route. Below are the routes for the design student programs we selected.

Design Style
Here is the design style for the application: we chose Taylor's logo colors, red and black, to represent the overall theme.

AR Features
We compiled a list of AR features based on our research into AR tools and interactive elements that can be applied within the AR environment.

Client Meeting

This was our first meeting with the client, where we presented the campus tour hotspots that our group had identified and discussed. We also explained the pain points of each hotspot and why they should be included in the tour.

Figma Wireframe

We created a low-fidelity prototype to demonstrate the application flow, providing the client with a clear understanding of how the specific program and AR features will work.

Reflection

Week 1
This week we are looking for a group for our project, finding members to join with different specialisations and deciding the group leader as well. Our lecturer, Mr. Mike, provided the first brief, explaining the available topics for the minor project selection. This helped us understand the options before deciding on our chosen topic. Once we finalised the topic, I conducted research to learn more about it and looked for successful AR app examples to include in my conceptual research board.

Week 2
Mr. Mike taught us about the principles of Design Thinking Systems through engaging videos and discussions. We also had a discussion with Mr. Mike about our conceptual research from last week and introduced us to Adobe Aero, an AR tool crucial for our project development. Despite limitations on implementing Google Geospatial Creator in our country, we took the initiative to explore Adobe Aero independently. This hands-on experience not only familiarised us with the software but also empowered us to identify its capabilities and limitations, setting a solid foundation for our project journey.

Week 3
I explored Adobe Aero to understand the features that we can apply to our future AR app design, such as triggers, image targets, animations, and more. We are going to have a physical meeting with Taylor's Marketing Client this week to discuss and confirm the key pain points that we believe are critical areas for the AR experience app, so our team prepared a list of tables to show the pain points and potential venues. We also went for our own campus tour to observe what is the must hot spot or venue to add to the table. By finishing the pain point list of the table, we consult with Mr, Mike to look through the pain point table list.

Week 4
After meeting with clients and gathering all the feedback for them and also Mr.mike, we developed a set of interview questions aimed at thoroughly understanding these pain points. We consulted with Mr. Mike to review and refine these questions, ensuring they would effectively guide our subsequent interviews with both students and event ambassadors. This process was essential for us to gather the necessary insights to improve the AR experience app based on real user feedback.

Week 5
This week, we began conducting interviews across the campus, targeting specific programs such as Design, Mass Communication, and Pharmacy. We aimed to gather students' responses to our interview questions to better understand their thoughts and feelings about the current campus tour and identify areas for improvement or additional features. Additionally, we interviewed three campus ambassadors to collect insights from their experiences and visitor feedback, which will help us pinpoint actual pain points and potential solutions.

Week 6
After completing and compiling the interviews from students and ambassadors, we began filtering the key insights by filling out the Empathy Map. This process allowed us to develop user personas and create a user journey map, helping us better understand the different user categories and their needs for an enhanced campus tour experience through the application.

Week 7
This week, we continued finalising the Customer Journey Map, focusing on how we will promote the app. We also started working on the app's low-fidelity wireframe design, including tasks such as creating the UI kit, selecting the typeface, choosing the color palette, and determining the icon style.
